Oak Gall Ink
Oak Gall Ink by Thomas Barwick. Made to the original recipe that Jane Austen used for making her ink to write such classic literature over the years. Apparently the whole ink making process was an absolute bind! Although we are pleased she persisted with it, in order to write such compelling books.
Whilst wonderfully romantic, and as authentic as it gets for a traditional ink, the most exciting part is watching the alchemy take place in front of your eyes. The ink in its first phase will be dark grey and gradually over the hours transforms to dark brown or black as it oxidises, leaving a slight glossiness in parts.
